Imodium Caps is an anti-diarrheal medication, it is a short-term treatment for transient acute diarrhea in adults and children over 15 years of age. This treatment is a complement to hygienic dietetics measures.

There are 4 mechanisms that can cause transient acute diarrhea:

• It can be due to hypersecretion of water in the intestine or the colon after ingestion of substances poorly absorbed in the intestine such as lactose in case of intolerance. Diarrhea is said to be osmotic
• It can be caused by hypersecretion of water and electrolytes in the intestine, most often caused by an intestinal infection. Diarrhea is called secretory.
• It can also be caused by a bowel movement disorder. Diarrhea is said to be motor.
• Finally, it can be secondary to an infection or a disease causing inflammation of the lining of the intestine. Diarrhea is said to be inflammatory.

INDICATIONS:

This medication is an antidiarrheal agent that works by slowing down intestinal transit and reducing intestinal secretions. It is used in the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults, in addition to dietary measures.

DOSAGE:

RESERVED FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN OVER 15 YEARS.

Start with 2 capsules in a single dose (4 mg of loperamide).

If the diarrhea continues: after each unmolded bowel movement, take 1 additional capsule, but:

• never exceed 6 capsules per day,
• never exceed 2 days of treatment.

Method and route of administration : Oral use.

Swallow the capsules with a glass of water.
Space outlets
The duration of use is limited to 2 days.

If you use more IMODIUMCAPS® capsules than you should: consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
If you forget to take IMODIUMCAPS®, capsule: do not take a double dose to make up for the dose you forgot to take.

COMPOSITIONS:

Loperamide hydrochloride. 2 mg

(Quantity corresponding to loperamide base: 1.86 mg)
